The Apex Midwifery Mission
At Apex Midwifery, we believe pregnancy and birth are normal processes, and we expect them to be so throughout your experience with us.
Pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding are also normal, natural functions that call for tremendous transitions in families. Midwives assist through the process and provide ease through the transition. Birth at home, among family members and support people, coupled with continuous care by skilled attendants, can provide an optimal environment for the majority of birthing families. When birth is integrated into life as a family event, the family is strengthened.
Sometimes complications can arise and when they do it is a midwife’s job to recognize the signs and take action for the health and safety of you and your baby. We will manage the complication when possible. When not possible, we will continue to support you and transfer you to an appropriate medical care provider.
We believe your birth is a pivotal experience in your life with lifelong, broad repercussions. We will work hard to make it the experience you want it to be. We support your right to determine your health care and make decisions for yourself and your baby. We believe the relationship between midwife and birthing person is significant and can affect the birthing experience physically, mentally, and emotionally. The main goals of midwifery care are support, advocacy, autonomy, and empowerment.
We seek to offer shared-decision-making, not just informed consent. It is our responsibility to make you aware of any concerns we have based on our experience, current perceptions, and researched based evidence.
Midwife Taylor Biddle
RM, CPM, Midwife
Having always been fascinated with biology, and particularly birth, the first birth Taylor witnessed was a horse birth on her family farm. She helped horses, goats, cows, and pigs bring their babies into the world. After attending her first homebirth in 2018, she continued to be enamored with out-of-hospital birth and decided to pursue a career in midwifery.
Taylor has been attending births for over 3 years. In fact, she has been to nearly 200 births. Her apprenticeship/training began in Pueblo, CO with a homebirth midwife. In 2020, Taylor moved to Utah to complete her training and work as a midwife at a high-volume birth center. After nearly 2 years in Utah, she moved back to Pueblo, CO to open a homebirth practice and serve families in Colorado.
Philosophy
Taylor is passionate about supporting pregnancy and birth as normal physiological events. Holding space for birthing parents to tap into their innate strength and power is one of her favorite parts of being a midwife.
Similar to her philosophy on birth, she let her midwife self arise and unfold naturally instead of formulating expectations and worrying.
